Hello and welcome!

                 Students qualify for the gifted program via the Cognitive Abilities Test, also sometimes referred to as CogAT.    Once students qualify for the GATE program via the CogAT test, they will not need to retest yearly.  They will continue in the program, without interruption, from year to year.  New students can be referred for testing at parent or teacher request.  Parents and/or teachers will fill out a gifted referral form which will be reviewed by a gifted committee prior to testing.  The committee will make the final decision regarding gifted testing.

                Paragon’s gifted program is somewhat unique!  To begin, students are placed in the regular classroom according to skill level.  Qualifying students, whether gifted or high achieving, will be placed in an above grade level classroom as a result of PSA’s placement testing.  Additionally, qualifying gifted students also have the opportunity to meet with PSA’s gifted teacher.  These classes are unique problem-based learning opportunities designed to allow students to develop their own way of thinking and learning.
